Volunteer

There are lots of ways to contribute to ERAF and help our horses. Volunteering can be as informal as helping out once a month or once a year, and it can be as formal and rewarding as participating on our new “REC” Program (Rehabilitation and Exercise Clinics) where we match you with a horse and you and the horse perform specific, goal directed exercises to facilitate the horse’s rehabilitation. The REC volunteers usually work with their assigned horse 2-3 times per week.

As for less structured ways to contribute, we can always use help with barn and horse chores, but you do not need to have horse experience to volunteer!

You can help with fundraising: this can be anything from a bake sale, to hosting a table at a tack sale or a horse show, to a simple cocktail party, to a full blown fundraising event. You can come up with a completely new fundraising idea!

You can help us with office/administrative help or helping to maintain our website or creating a regular newsletter.

Maybe you have experience and can offer us an educational clinic or some promotional events. Like to organize things? Cleaning and organizing tack which is donated to us, and which we often resell, is a very necessary task.

It’s always amazing how many people say that cleaning stalls is therapeutic, and it really does not take much horse experience to do that. With a little more experience you can bathe and groom horses, and most horses really enjoy this attention. We can usually use experienced riders to help us with retraining horses, which is an integral part of finding them new homes.

Remember, your volunteer hours with us can count towards community service!
