Starbucks and Stacy arrived on Sunday (February 21).  They were surrender to ERAF through Martin County Animal Care and Control.  Stacy is definitely thin (body score of 3-4), but other wise seems in good health.  Starbucks seems to be in good shape - but needs to be gelded ASAP.  They are both friendly and trailered fairly easily.  Starbucks has been ridden in the past.  Stacy is about 14 hands.  Starbucks is about 13 hands.  Their ages have not yet been verified.

March 17: Starbucks is now a gelding and will be available for adoption at the end of April.

Dakota and Duke were surrender to ERAF through Animal Care and Control.  They had been abandoned at a home in western Martin County.  They were brought into ERAF on October 22nd.  Their body condition score at intake was between a 1 (emaciated) and 2 (very thin).

This photo is from October 31.  Dakota and Duke are now at ERAF and being quarantined from our other horses.  They are still very thin, but starting to show signs of weight gain in their hips.  Our vet has determined that they are full of sand and parasites.  Our first step is to make sure their digestive systems are working properly and to get some of the sand cleared up.  As part of our standard intake procedures, temperatures are taken throughout the day.  Dakota is running a high fever during the day, but it returns to normal in the evening.  She also has a parasite in one of her eyes, which will be cleared up once we can safely begin the deworming process.

These are from January.  They hardly look like the same horses.
